Major Mobile Platforms Help Developers Create Accessible Apps
June 14, 2011
CTIA-The Wireless Association® and the wireless industry recognize the significant potential of “apps” for persons with disabilities. As the FCC recently highlighted, “apps” are an easy way for consumers to add accessibility features to a cell phone, smartphone or wireless device. For developers, designing accessible “apps” opens your app to all consumers, including people with disabilities.
App developers can incorporate accessibility into almost any “app” by reviewing the guidelines for major mobile platforms, including Android, Blackberry®, iOS and Windows. The World Wide Web Consortium (“W3C”) also provides accessibility guidance to website developers of mobile platforms.
