The Mobile Revolution for Persons with Disabilties

December 13, 2011

For persons with disabilities, the power of mobile applications, devices and services are truly revolutionary. This post links to a New York Times column that provides information about mobile applications that help autistic children develop skills.

CTIA and our member companies know what a big difference the wide-world of mobile applications, devices and services make in the lives of persons with disabilities and their families every day.

For example, the New York Times' Gadgetwise column recently highlighted the ways mobile applications are assisting children with autism spectrum disorder or other special needs.  As the column notes, teachers, parents and therapists are discovering the profound difference that applications for mobile products have made in helping autistic children develop skills.

With all the choices in mobile applications and devices, independent resources are popping up to help parents, teachers and persons with disabilities find the right applications. CTIA has highlighted a few of these resources on AccessWireless.Org here and the New York Times also highlighted more here.

For persons with disabilities, the power of mobile applications, devices and services are truly revolutionary. For CTIA and our member companies, we are proud that the wireless industry’s products and services are making such an impact.
